Facial expressions are an integral part of communication; however, every smile, frown, scrunching of the nose, and laugh leads to lines and wrinkles on the face that many people want to get rid of. Botox® treatments at RenewMD in Reno, Nevada, smooth the skin’s surface, which leads to a younger, more relaxed appearance.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is an FDA-approved injectable primarily made of a purified version of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin produced by bacteria. In minor doses, Botox® is used to temporarily block the signals between nerves and problematic muscles that cause wrinkles and lines across the face.
At RenewMD, all of the nurse practitioners have primary and advanced training administering cosmetic Botox. RenewMD has provided over 10,000 Botox treatments. Join our wrinkle-free club free and save even more.

How Long Do Botox® Results Take to Work?
Botox® often treats crow’s feet, horizontal lines across the forehead, and glabellar lines (creases between the eyebrows), but may also treat bunny lines, gummy smiles, lines around the mouth, and platysmal bands. You’ll begin noticing results seven to ten days after your injections.
These results last between three and four months, depending on dosage amount, area of injection, and your metabolism. At RenewMD, you’ll maintain your natural facial expressions. The only muscles targeted are the ones responsible for dynamic wrinkling and lines.
Is There Any Downtime with Botox®?
There is no downtime needed for Botox® treatments. Sessions last ten to fifteen minutes, making it the perfect lunchtime treatment. You may experience mild redness, slight swelling, or bruising at the injection site that will fade in two to three days.
RenewMD does not recommend exercising or spending time in saunas or hot tubs within 48 hours after you receive the injections. It is advisable to avoid facials two weeks after treatments as well.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?
With no downtime and a reliable track record since its FDA approval in 2002, most people in good health are great candidates for Botox®. Most patients are in their 40s and 50s with dynamic lines that they want to get rid of; however, younger patients wanting to delay onset wrinkling is very common.
You may not be a good candidate for Botox® if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or struggle with a neuromuscular disease.
