If you’re bothered by fine lines and wrinkles, you don’t have to undergo surgery to resolve them. Botox can help you smooth out your skin and look years younger. It’s a quick, easy treatment that comes with virtually no downtime. But is it safe? Keep reading to learn more about Botox and its safety.

How Botox Works

Botox is a special formula made of a purified chemical known as botulinum toxin. It blocks your muscles from contracting and stops dynamic wrinkles in their tracks. Botox is ideal if you’d like to treat wrinkles that arise when you make facial expressions, such as the ones around your forehead, eye area, nose, and upper lips.

Ever since Botox made its debut in 2002, it’s become one of the safest and most widely tested drugs on the market. So yes, Botox is incredibly safe and effective. It also comes with absolutely no anesthesia and downtime, two very common drawbacks of other treatments. The fact that more than 3.5 million Botox injections are performed in the U.S. each year should give you some peace of mind.

Botox Results

You won’t have to wait long to enjoy the results of your Botox treatment. They will likely be visible within seven to ten days. Keep in mind, however, that Botox results are temporary. In most cases, they’ll last for about three months. You are welcome to visit our office for follow-up treatments once your wrinkles begin to make their come back.

Good Candidates for Botox

Botox is a great option if you’d like to treat the wrinkles on your face without surgery. As long as you’re in reasonably good health and have realistic expectations, Botox can do wonders for your complexion.

Even though most people associate Botox with middle-aged and older men and women, it may benefit younger patients. If you’re in your 20s or early 30s, Botox can delay the onset of dynamic wrinkles. We do not recommend Botox if you have a neuromuscular disease or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

“It’s been very nice coming the last (?) years. Regina, Sara and the other woman who’s given me Botox are wonderful.” *
